I was doing some housekeeping on this little blog a couple days ago and I stumbled on to something that made me pretty happy.

I was adding to my list of meta words and going over some older entries to see if they were still relevant etc.

For the uninitiated (like me) meta words are what you use to drive traffic to your site. I guess they pop up in search engines and that's how we end up on google etc. An example of some of my meta words are, political, liberal, sports, media, right-wing dumbasses, republicans suck, Bush sucks, NRA assholes, you get the gist. Anyway I added some new words to my meta list so of course I had to do a search to make sure they worked.

Low and behold in my little test search I stumbled on to an article that was published by something called PCQuote.com I guess it's some sort of online stock market magazine thing for PC users and stockholders which is funny since I use a Mac but I digress...

The article was published in July of 2004. It was about political blogs and how they were affecting the presidential election. Well much to my surprise they had listed a few sample blogs in the article and there I was number seven on the "Blue Blogs" list. (They listed Red blogs for right wing idiots, blue for the enlightened and intelligent folks, and purple for the poor souls who are apparently too stupid to decide between good and evil.

Needless to say I was thrilled by this discovery. Apparently some writer thought my blog was either good enough or representative enough to use as an example in this article. So thanks to the writer whoever you are. More importantly thanks to all of you who drop by and check out my ranting and raving.

We'll keep fighting until the last dog dies or until republicans take their heads out of their asses whichever comes first. I don't want to seem cynical but based on republicans I have run across well suffice it to say I wouldn't want to be that last dog.

Let's talk a little sports...

Topic: Everything else
I am a sports fan. A big time sports fan. I love Baseball, Football, NCAA Hoops (I hate the NBA) and Hockey. Total sports geek here. I don't do the fantasy leagues, I don't bet, and I am not a big fan of Sportscenter on ESPN. (stay tuned for my post on why ESPN has ruined sports in general and the NBA in particular) I just love my sports. I guess I am one of the few fans out there who just watch because they enjoy the games. I don't have an angle like gambling or fantasy geek leagues to keep me interested. I suppose some would say that makes me even more of a geek than most but I prefer to see myself as a purist. Think of it as enjoying art for art's sake or something. All I know is that sports beats hell out of most TV shows.

If I had to rank my favorite sports the list would look like this I guess...

College Football
Baseball
NFL Football
Hockey
NCAA Hoops

I have been following this stuff since I was old enough to get what was going on. I love it. I know this stuff like the back of my hand. My girlfriend often marvels at how much brain space I have wasted with sports knowledge. (How many people can say their brother's nickname is derived from the name of former Viking running back Brent McClanahan?) Yup, if it's classic rock or sports I have it stored up here somewhere. I am a sports geek but hey it beats doing drugs and drinking... I am telling you this to lay the groundwork for upcoming entries. My post on the best uniforms, NFL Films, ESPN etc. will make a lot more sense if you know where I am coming from. So there you have it, I am a sports dork and proud of it. Let the games begin!

You know I have been venting my spleen on this blog for 7 months now. It's been 99.7% political. I could use a break from the political stuff for a while. I think it's time for some good old-fashioned fun. It's time we did some mindless, meaningless straight up blogging...at least for a while. All I have left to say about the political stuff is this... Unlike a lot of democrats, I am over it. Seriously! I am over it and it feels good to have my life back again. Don't get me wrong, I don't like the current state of political affairs, but I need a break. Hell, we all need a break. So I am going to have some fun with this thing for a while. I hope no one minds...

I was just at www.snopes.com the urban legends page. I go there once in a while because, first I find it very entertaining, second and more importantly because 95% of the e-mail shit I get from one of my neocon friends is usually from snopes.com. He just doesn't know it until it's too late. Stuff like Pepsi is against the pledge of allegiance, or John Kerry had sex with Jane Fonda at some anti-Viet Nam war rally etc...

I find it amusing. This person is convinced that I need to see the error of my political views. Unfortunately every argument or counterpoint they have ever come up with is either quickly debunked at snopes.com or some doctored picture from someone with Adobe Photoshop. So much for intelligent discourse I guess.

Anyway, I bring this up because while I was at snopes, I saw a few stories regarding 9-11. One was about someone who survived the hit on the Trade Center only to die in a ferry accident a little while later. Talk about your number being up eh?

That story reminded me of a story I covered while I was working as a videographer at a local TV station. I think it was around the one year anniversary of 9-11. Myself and our entertainment reporter were sent to interview the mother of a woman who worked in New York. Get this, this ladies daughter was at Kent State when the shootings there took place in 1970. She saw it happen. AND...she was in the World Trade Center whn the planes hit on 9/11. She walked away from both without a scratch. What are the freaking odds? She played no significant role in either event yet she was right in the middle of both of them. If I were her I would play the lottery and right after I bought the ticket I would go looking for wallets.

Just thought I'd pass that along.
