Joe Montana is the greatest QB ever. Period. It was this simple for opposing teams. If the Niners were down but Joe had a minute and the ball then you were going to lose. Give Joe two minutes and all his time-outs and he could lead a drive from the next town over to beat you. He was just that good. Elway had more talent and Marino put up bigger numbers in that era but one guy has 4 super bowl rings...Joe Montana. He'd probably have 6 rings but some horrible officiating that gave a playoff game to the Redskins cost him a shot in 1983 and a ferocious Giants defense knocked him out of a playoff game in 1986. The guy was simply the best to ever play the position. If you don't believe me just ask John Madden.

ESPN has ruined sports. I think it's great that they cover as many games as they do but that abomination they call Sportscenter is the worst thing to ever happen. Sportscenter has done more to hurt the quality of play at all levels of sports than steroids, big money, free agency, and salary caps ever have. Nowhere is this more obvious than the NBA. Larry Bird and Magic Johnson saved the NBA only to have Sportscenter come along and destroy it. Watch a game from the 80's on ESPN classic then tell me the quality of play is as good today. Thanks to Sportscenter it's all about making the highlights now. Dunks and 3's are all that matter. It's too bad because the NBA used to be great.

Jim Rome is the biggest poser on the air. What a fucking loser. The next positive thing he has to say will be the first. He's the Rush Limbaugh of sports talk, a guy who has a deeply disturbed, loyal following of dorks who aren't in on the joke. He has his moments but as they say, even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Steroids in baseball. Roger Clemens has won 6 Cy Youngs and Barry Bonds has won 7 MVPs. C'mon, are these guys that fucking great on their own? In 100+ years of baseball no one was ever that great for that long, especially pitchers. Clemens was almost a castoff when he signed with Toronto. There were a lot of people who thought he was done at the time. All of a sudden he has a "new workout regimen" and he comes back better than ever. Yeah right. His new workout is called sticking a needle in your ass and getting huge and mean. Bonds was a freaking beanpole when he broke in to the bigs. I'll buy arms and legs getting bigger through weightlifting but you ain't ever going to convince me that a dude's head will grow three hat sizes because he's been lifting. These guys owe their longevity to science. They had crazy talent on their own and the roids made them supernatural. Unfortunately anything they do will be tainted forever. Bonds can hit 1000 homers but in my book he'll never be half the player Henry Aaron was.

Steroids have been out of control in baseball since at least 1995.

more later....
